Ian Ward MSc
Brewmaster

A brewer with 41 years in the industry.

It all started in 1976 when I joined Wilsons Brewery in Manchester as a shift brewer after ten years working through various departments and ending up as Brewhouse and Fermentation Manager.  The brewery closed in 1986.

I moved into a microbrewery producing “real ale”.  In 1992 we won two medals in the Brewing Industry International Awards for our Best Bitter.  Despite this award and the fantastic increase in sales it produced, in 1996 the brewery was shut.

I then started working abroad installing and commissioning micro-breweries and training staff.  After four years the small company I worked for closed. Brewvision was formed and the work went on.  The breweries listed under “ Gallery" are just a selection where I have installed plant and trained staff.  I helped move Freedom Brewery from its home in London to the MidlandsI and ended up staying  for a number of years, my last job there was installing a new 50Hl four vessel brewhouse.

In January 2015 Brewvision was relaunched due to the demand for microbreweries in the UK. Over the last few years I have installed a number of breweries from 500 litres to 30 barrels, these are listed in the “Installs" tab.

I still offer advice to a number of my old contacts and to anybody else who asks.
